Pressure point massage is an ancient healing art, though the origins are not well documented; dubbed Acupressure by Eunice Ingham in the 1930’s. Reliefs have been found on the walls of a Sixth Dynasty Egyptian tomb (c. 2450 B.C.) that depict two seated men receiving massage on their hands and feet. The concepts of acupressure have also been traced to pre-dynastic China (possibly as early as 3000 B.C.) and to ancient Indian medicine.
Acupressure is a therapeutic method of relieving discomfort by stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet and hands. These pressure points connect directly through the nervous system and affect the bodily organs and glands. The entire body including the organs is mapped out on the hands and feet and affected by blockages in energy flow. Controlled pressure and stimulation alleviates the source of the discomfort. In the absence of any particular malady or abnormality, acupressure has shown to be effective in promoting good health and preventing illness including relieving symptoms of stress, injury, and constipation.
Benefits of Acupressure
