Becoming Reiki attuned is a beautiful and wondrous journey down your own healing path. It is healing with the pure universal love of the Source, God, or what ever name you place on it depending on your belief system.
With Reiki you will be able to facilitate healing in others, animals, plants, food, water, and much more. Reiki has become internationally accepted as a holistic and complimentary healing modality and has begun to be utilized by nurses at many hospitals including Mass General Hospital and is even covered by health insurance in several countries.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. It will not interfere with your religious belief and in fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Reiki comes from the highest source, it enables many people to go beyond intellectual concepts and directly experience their spirituality.
Reiki is not taught in the way other healing techniques are taught. The Reiki Master transfers the ability to the student during an attunement process. These attunements are unique to each person and are a powerful spiritual experience. Many report having mystical experiences involving personal messages, healings, visions and past-life experiences. The attunement can also increase psychic sensitivity. Students often report an opening of the third eye and increased intuitive awareness.
The ability to learn Reiki is not dependent on intellectual capacity, nor does one have to be able to meditate. It is simply passed on from the teacher to the student. As soon as this happens, one has the ability to use Reiki. Once you have a Reiki attunement you will have it for the remainder of your life. It does not wear off and you can never lose it.
Reiki is a complementary energy healing method and can be used with any other healing modality. In fact, Reiki will improve the results of any medical treatment, acting to reduce negative side effects, such as those from chemotherapy, surgery and invasive procedures.
Reiki attunements can start a cleansing process that affects the physical, mental, emotional, and energetic body. Toxins that have been stored in the body may be released along with feelings and thought patterns that are no longer useful. This does not always take place after an attunement, but when it does, it is important to understand what is happening so you can support its completion.
There are three levels of attunements:
- Level I - You will be attuned to the Reiki healing energy, be given the Power symbol, and shown how to do a Reiki treatment. You will be able to heal yourself and others at this time.
- Level II - You will receive an additional attunement and two more symbols. After this attunement you will be able to do distance healings.
- Master Practitioner - You will receive the final attunement and the Master symbol. At this point you will be able to teach and attune others.
There is a resting period between attunements. The length varies upon the student and will be discussed with each individual.
