    My work out philosophy is to combine the mind-body-spirit connection to health and fitness while having fun doing it.  I use muscle confusion to keep the muscles and mind always working and not plateauing into the memory that occurs with always doing a routine.  I introduce new movements and workout sessions all the time, keeping my classes fresh, fun, and no chance of getting bored! You get better physical results that you can see in your body by avoiding the plateau effect,  and also keeps the mind stimulated by creating neural stimuli that occurs with learning something new.


         I have taught large and small group classes in gyms, studios,  and private sessions since 2008.   With my background in holistic health I take my classes to the next level, educating my students along the way and giving them a better understanding of their practice, their bodies, and their well-being.  All my classes and sessions include movements and postures that focus on integrating breath, movement, strength, flexibility, alignment, and awareness.

Yoga...


Yoga Fusion:  Combination of Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, and Power yoga.  A mind-body class that will get you burning calories, building muscle tone, stretching, centering and relaxing your mind for an all over feeling of well-being.


Senior Yoga:  Energizing, healing, relaxing, and fun; this class is great for seniors and beginners as it is a slower moving class while still offering a challenge and focuses on breathing, flexibility, and increased range of motion.


Relax & Renew Yoga:  An opportunity to restore your energy both physically and mentally.  This class strengthens and calms while unwinding and soothing your body and mind with longer-hold stretches and core work woven throughout the practice. All levels of experience are encouraged to attend!


Mixed Level Power Yoga:    An uplifting, fun, and challenging class that builds strength, endurance, increases flexibility, and improves range of motion. This class is accessible to all levels of practice but a basic knowledge of yoga is recommended.


Yoga with Weights:  The latest breakthrough in mind-body exercise combining yoga with light weights.  The exercises build muscle tone, strength, core stability, bone density, and balance.  You will develop flexibility, keeping muscles and joints limber and active, all the while helping you relax and keep you feeling your best.



 


Fitness...


Belly Blast Belly Dance:   Tone your body from head to toe with belly dance moves and exciting Middle Eastern music. Get lean muscle, core strength, improved posture, improved self awareness and body image while having a great time! We’ll use some belly dance props such as canes and veils to develop muscle control and endurance.


Zumba:  Dance your way to a fitter you with exciting and unique Latin moves and rhythms.  Burn calories, and sculpt your hips, legs, and abdomen while you shake up your workout with Reggaton, Salsa, Merengue and hints of hip hop.


Cardio Sculpt:  Burn calories, increase muscle tone, posture, balance, strength, and  cardiovascular health  with easy-to-follow exercises combining cardio and weights.  It’s a unique workout using the science of muscle confusion, continuously introducing new routines and moves into the mix.  With so much variety, there's no time for boredom!


Mat Pilates:   The focus is on building strengh without bulk, improve flexibility and agility, and helping to prevent injury.  The majority of the exercises are done either sitting or lying on the mat.

A little about Yoga...


   Hatha Yoga has been traced back as far as the 15th century and is said to have been used as a means for purifying the body in preparation for deep meditation.  The foundational text of Yoga, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, define Yoga as “‘Yoga citta vrtti nirodha’ – Yoga is the restriction of the fluctuations of the mind”.

 

  Yoga is practiced for mental and physical health throughout the West. The benefits of Hatha Yoga are many; including relieving stress and tension, increases in strength, flexibility, and relaxation, improves circulation in the body and helps to detoxify organs, muscles and lungs.  Yoga creates a feeling of well-being and has a positive effect on the state of the mind through its relaxation effect which in turn enhances the immune, endocrine and nervous systems.    Practicing Hatha Yoga can help you to build a stronger, more flexible body and facilitates in the prevention, management and treatment of certain ailments such as Diabetes, Arthritis and Hypertension. Hatha Yoga is especially well suited for people doing intellectual work as it sharpens the mind and aids in focus and concentration.

 

  Hatha Yoga helps keep the body strong and healthy by utilizing different poses for strengthening, opening and cleansing the body; including stretching, balancing postures, standing postures, inversion postures, breathing, and relaxation techniques. 




A little about Belly dance...


 Great for all experience levels, ages, shapes & sizes; have a lot of fun while building lean muscle & getting a great cardio workout!


   Belly dancing is great for women’s health. It improves muscle tone, circulation, and breathing. Dancing provides a good cardiovascular workout and increases flexibility and strength by moving different muscles or muscle groups independently. The muscles of the body become stronger and leaner. You build abdominal, back, arm, shoulder, and even finger strength.


    My belly dance fitness classes will improve your sense of well-being, self confidence, and instill a good body image. They are designed to have fun, and celebrate the feminine form.
 
    Some of the basic movements you will be doing include: hip rotations, shimmies, serpentine arms, abdominal undulations, and dancing with veils; all combined to create beautiful flowing motions. You really will use the entire body even though it's called belly dancing.

What is Belly Dance?


  There are many theories about the origins of Belly dance.  The dance itself is so ancient that the complete story of its evolution is lost in time.  It derives from various folk dance movements from the Middle East and Africa.  Some believe it comes from Egypt, some believe it comes from Greece, and still others believe it comes from the Romani culture. It may have even been a form of a religious dance and Goddess worship.  For Saudi women, the dance itself was considered to be sacred, and not intended to be seen by men at all.

 

  In Arabic, the dance is called Raks Sharqi, meaning "Oriental Dance".  After its appearance at the Chicago Exposition at the turn of the century, Americans discovered it and the French name "danse du ventre" was translated into the "belly dance".
